In video production, visual effects are the process of creating or manipulating graphics outside of the framework of a live-action shot. VFX is the process of combining live-action and computer graphics to generate realistic images. VFX combines live-action footage (special effects) with created imagery (digital or optically, animals or monsters) to create realistic-looking scenes that would be unsafe, expensive, impractical, time-consuming, or impossible to record on film. With the emergence of economical and generally easy-to-use animation and compositing tools, visual effects using computer-generated imagery (CGI) have recently been more accessible to independent artists. Here's some of the Maya work I've done: Live footage was shot and then tracked in match mover. The tracked footage was then imported to Maya and with the help of fluids, a fire scene was created.
